This year Mr. Mugridge, who is also the graphic design teacher, was asked to be the new yearbook adviser. Although Mugridge has not had any experience with yearbook, he has had experience with the program used to make the yearbook. The program is called Indesign and is also used in his graphic design class.
This year, Mugridge plans to focus more heavily on graphics and photography than the past years have. “I make sure students understand how important it is that they tell the story of the school and are given the resources and opportunities to do so,” stated Mugridge. The yearbook class is 4th period and completely filled with 36 students. It has a variety of students ranging from freshman to seniors.
This is Mugridge’s 4th year teaching at Martin Luther King High School (King). He previously taught at Elsinore High School from 2009 to 2014 and taught Graphic Design 1,2,3,4 and Graphics Production. He also taught MultiMedia 110 for Mount San Jacinto College. The reason he loves to teach is because “by teaching we learn” – which also happens to be a quote that is tattooed in Latin on his arm.
