The Gift of Giving

By Julianne Alejos

As our great name sake Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others?”  Martin Luther King High School’s (King) Black Student Union (BSU) is having their annual Thanksgiving food drive to gather a collection of foods to donate to those less fortunate in the Riverside community and they need your help.  From now through November 17, BSU is asking for specific items (see list below).  With your donations, BSU will create holiday baskets to show gratitude and spread cheerfulness all around. Your donations not only help to bring joy to a family’s life, but they also help to bring our community together during the season of giving.  All donations can be dropped off  in room C104 to Mrs. Lea’s, the BSU advisor, or any participating classroom – just look for the donation box.  The top three donating classes will be rewarded with a Southern Comfort Holiday Feast hosted by BSU.  Remember, the holidays are a time to think about others and consider how you can bring another person’s spirit alive.
