December 3, 2017, ceramic art students from Martin Luther King High School (King) and other participating high schools from across the Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) participated in the fourth annual Empty Bowls charity event at the Riverside Art Museum. The event is held to raise money to feed starving people in the United States. Participants were asked to make a nominal donate of $10 and in return received a unique hand-made ceramic bowl, along with a bowl of hot soup and fresh bread. The event raised over $2,500. It was rewarding to see so many individuals come together to show support for something bigger than themselves in this season of hope and joy.
